A wormhole junction was a tunnel through space that took a vessel from one point in the universe to another point, sometimes many light years away, in an instant, thus allowing fast travel to places which would normally take weeks, months, or even years to reach.
Only one ship at a time was able to enter a junction. When doing so, the ship actually ceased to exist in the normal space-time continuum for a few seconds.
The concept of wormhole junctions was first theorized by Dr. Shigematsu Radhakrishnan. (HH1)
