William Daniels was a Solarian citizen and an officer of the Solarian League Navy's Battle Fleet.
Biography[]
Holding the rank of Admiral, he served as Fleet Admiral Massimo Filareta's staff operations officer for Task Force 891. (HH12)
He was on the flag bridge of SLNS Philip Oppenheimer during the redesignated Eleventh Fleet's attack on the Manticore System. However, the fleet ended up in a trap set by the newly established Grand Fleet. Fleet Admiral Honor Harrington offered Filareta the chance to surrender, but before he could do so, Mesan mind control nanites forced Admiral Daniels to launch a full volley of missiles against the Manticorans and then trigger a bomb, killing Filareta along with his entire staff, including Daniels. A recording of Daniel's final moments was later discovered in the salvaged computers of another superdreadnought, SLNS Leonhard Euler, giving the Grand Alliance vital clues about the conspiracy behind the Solarian attack. (HH14)
