The Warrior class was a class of heavy cruisers used by the Royal Manticoran Navy. (JIR1)
Design[]
The Warrior class' missile broadside was light by the standards of the 20th Century PD. It carried an all-graser broadside, providing it with a powerful punch in close range combat. The defensive suite boasted more point defense clusters than countermissile tubes, optimized against contact nuclear warhead missiles common at the time of the class' original conception.
History[]
Despite its limitations, the Warrior class proved to be an ideal frontier patrol ship for the Silesian Confederacy, with its smaller size giving it a marginally better acceleration than newer, larger classes. It could run down many ships of similar or smaller size, and its missiles gave it enough punch to defeat the lightly defended ships commonly used by Silesian rebels and pirates.
Few ships of the class remained in service by the start of the First Havenite-Manticoran War, even though it was still a well-regarded class, with all active units receiving periodic upgrades. While a few units saw combat at the opening of the war, the last of them were soon decommissioned. By the time the class went completely out of service in 1906 PD, a total of forty-six ships had been built. The Grayson Space Navy named them the Berilynko-class. (Companion)
