A tractor beam was a device with the ability to attract one object to another from a distance.[1]
Tractor beams could be used to drag a ship, but in the early 20th Century PD, they found much more frequent use in towing a warships missile pods into battle.
People's Navy battleships had a much greater tractor capability than other classes. (HH8)
