"The Stray", written by Linda Evans, is the first short story in the second Honorverse anthology Worlds of Honor, first published in 1999.
Timeframe: 1520 PD
Plot[]
Sphinxian physisian Dr. Scott MacDallan and his treecat Fisher encounter a starving and dehydrated treecat named True Stalker, whose person has been killed in the crash of a sabotaged aircar. MacDallan investigates and soon discovers that Dr. Muriel Ubel, chief scientist of BioNeering, the company the dead pilot worked for, as she tries to cover up the consequences of her illegal actions in the forests of Sphinx.
