Fate of Canonnade[]

The second-to-last paragraph states:

"...thus devastating Fifth Fleet and destroying sixty-eight of its superdreadnoughts, including RHNS Cannonade itself."

However, other pages (Cannonade's page, as well as Genevieve Chin's bio page) state that the ship or Chin survived the battle and escaped. I think this needs to be reconciled and all affected pages synched up.

I'm currently re-reading the entire series, so I'll try to remember to pay special attention during HH11 and HH12 and see if I can figure out which it is...  :-)  EricNelson (talk) 01:06, May 29, 2013 (UTC)

Good call, Eric, I think we will find that a bunch of errors snuck in where the details of the Battle of Manticore are concerned. It's the biggest battle ever described in such detail, and things get pretty confusing. I just scanned through my digital copy of HH11, and as far as I can make it out, the Canonnade (which itself seems to be a spelling error) is only mentioned in Chapters 67 and 68, when Honor blows the Fifth Fleet out of the sky. The fact that Admiral Chin led a number of "battered survivors" back to Haven comes from Chapter 40 of HH12, although it is not explictly stated that she returned aboard the Canonnade.
The "destroyed" part in this article seems unsourced, though, so I'm taking it out for the time being. -- SaganamiFan (talk) 03:40, May 29, 2013 (UTC)
Actually, "canonnade" seems to be the French spelling of "cannonade", so the name would make sense for a Havenite ship. -- SaganamiFan (talk) 03:57, May 29, 2013 (UTC)
Ah, that's interesting, nice catch!  Thanks for taking a look, SF, and like I said I'll try to remember to go into some detail when reading those passages soon (for my re-read I'm going digital on each in turn, because it's more convenient than pulling out my paper copies) and try to brush up any passages in the relevant pages.  :-)  EricNelson (talk) 05:57, May 30, 2013 (UTC)
