Tales of Honor #4 : On Basilisk Station is the fourth issue of the Tales of Honor comic series, an adaptation of David Weber's book of the same name.
Written by Matt Hawkins and drawn by Sang-Il Jeong, it was released on 6 August 2014.
Cover Summary[]
- Based on the USA Today and New York Times bestselling science-fiction novels, Honor Harrington, by David Weber, the stories are set 2,000 years in the future when hyperspace travel has allowed humanity to colonize the far reaches of the universe. TALES OF HONOR follows the life and times of a brilliant, genetically engineered female spaceship captain, Honor Harrington, as she heroically leads her crew through a series of epic political, military, and personal adventures.
Plot[]
While the crew of HMS Fearless continues to wonder who is behind the secret drug lab on the surface of Medusa, Petty Officer Horace Harkness starts a fight with a group of off-duty Marines in the mess hall; Ensign Prescott Tremaine eventually breaks it off. Honor Harrington gives some background on Tremaine, as well as on other officers such as exec Alistair McKeon, chief engineer Dominica Santos, and tactical officer Rafael Cardones.
Honor gets a message from Lieutenant Stromboli, informing her that the Havenite freighter Sirius has broken orbit. The captain suddenly realizes what is going on, and orders all hands to battle stations. On the bridge, she sends a message to the Manticore System, declaring Case Zulu, the code for an imminent invasion. She explains to the others that the Havenites instigated the uprising on Medusa so the Sirius could "witness" Manticore's lack of control and alarm a Havenite "peacekeeping force" conveniently waiting just outside Basilisk.
As the Fearless leaves to pursue the Sirius, the Manticoran Marines on the surface of Medusa finds the crashed recon skimmer and its murdered crew, and then go on to track a large force of flintlock-armed Medusans in a Mekoha-infused rage. A brutal battle ensues, during which the humans have to kill every last Medusan who comes at them.
When Honor orders Captain Johan Coglin of the Sirius to stand down, his ship reveals itself to be a Q-ship, an armed Naval vessel disguised as a freighter. Even though she is now heavily outgunned, the Fearless fires a warning shot across the larger ship's bow.
