A sting ship was a small atmospheric combat vehicle, roughly equivalent to the fighter jets used on Earth before the Diaspora.
They were used by the Star Kingdom of Manticore in the 20th Century PD to escort shuttles with VIP passengers. (HH13)
They were also used by the military in the Swallow System. (HH14)
