Silver oak was a species of tree native to Halkirk, one of the two inhabited planets of the Loomis System.
Its beautiful and expensive wood was a valuable export resource, greatly appreciated by sculptors in the Solarian League, drawing the attention of Star Enterprise Initiatives Unlimited, a Solarian business conglomerate and the Silver Oak Cooperative.
Due to extensive logging, silver oak was an endangered species threatened with extinction by 1922 PD. (SI4)
