The Shrike B class was the second of a new generation of light attack craft of the Royal Manticoran Navy, built during the First Havenite-Manticoran War with major input from the Grayson Space Navy. (Companion)
History[]
The Shrike B class was a refinement of the original Shrike class, based on operational experience with the initial deployed prototypes. Almost before the first of the Shrike A variant was commissioned, simulation data began to reveal weaknesses in the design. The subsequent Second Battle of Hancock provided all the evidence that BuShips needed to finalize the design of the Shrike B.
Remaining Technical Data[]
- Revolver Missile Tubes
- 1.5 m Aperture Graser
Design notes[]
The Shrike B-class traded in the original Shrike's stern hangar for its own small cutter/lifeboat for four more counter missile launchers, a half dozen fire control links, and six more laser clusters designed to cover its stern.
And also unlike the Shrike-class it was provided with LAC-sized missiles and drones from the Ghost Rider program. (HH9)
Beginning in 1915 PD, all new construction added an external sternwall generator modeled on the generator carried by the Ferret class. Like the Ferret's generator, the power budget was insufficient to power both the bow and sternwall simultaneously. (Companion)
Service Record[]
The Shrike B variant was the variant of the Shrike used in Operation Buttercup. (HH9)
