Samuel Houston Webster was a Manticoran citizen and an officer of the Royal Manticoran Navy.

Family[]

He was a grand-nephew of Sir James Webster, Baron of New Dallas, as well as a third cousin of the Duke of New Texas. (HH1)

Biography[]

In 1900 PD, Webster held the rank of Lieutenant and served as communications officer aboard the light cruiser HMS Fearless. He set up the drone data collection net for the sensor network of recon drones and was later wounded during the First Battle of Basilisk, when Fearless was severely damaged by the Havenite Q-ship PMSS Sirius. Around 1904 PD, he became Rear Admiral Mark Sarnow's communications officer with the rank of Lieutenant Commander. In conversation with Captain Harrington, he spoke well of Sarnow. He met with Admiral Sarnow and gave a more in-depth character profile when Harrington arrived at Hancock Station. He would go on a tour of the HMS Nike and attend a staff meeting on the ship. (HH3)

As a Captain (junior grade), he commanded the armed merchant cruiser HMAMC Scheherazade during her anti-piracy duty in the Silesian Confederacy, once again serving under the overall command of Honor Harrington. (HH6)

Promoted to Rear Admiral, he was given command of Battle Squadron 16 in Task Force 34. With the resumption of war between Manticore and Haven, BatRon 16 remained under Webster's command and was transferred to the newly established Ninth Fleet. (HH10,HHA7.3: TSC)

Character[]

Webster was considered confident and aggressive, and hated being called "Sam". (HH1) He would go on to earn his ranks without using his family name and he was known to be a good officer. (HH3)
