The Royal Winton class was a class of conventional dreadnoughts used by the Royal Manticoran Navy.

Born out of the need to modernize Home Fleet at the turn of the nineteenth century PD, the design study for both the Royal Winton class dreadnoughts and Samothrace class superdreadnoughts began in 1812 PD. The Royal Winton class was designed to completely replace the handful of battleships in RMN service, joining the Ad Astra class dreadnoughts to provide two active battle squadrons of dreadnoughts each led by a division of superdreadnoughts, with sufficient hulls to rotate through regular refits without any reduction in deployable forces.

Fifty percent larger than the Ad Astras, the Royal Wintons were nearly as large as the older Manticore class superdreadnoughts and, by objective standards, their combat ability was equal or better as well.

The Royal Wintons encountered difficulties during design and construction with the class being divided into three distinct flights, each with a slightly different weapons layout, and even within a given flight no two hulls were exactly identical.

In 1868 PD, the Royal Winton class was succeeded by the Gladiator class, but remained in commission until 1916 PD. (Companion)
