Rorke's Drift class

The Rorke's Drift class was a class of Marine transport ships used by the Royal Manticoran Navy in the 19th and 20th Century PD. (HH8)

Origins and design notes

These ships were designed to transport larger contingents of Royal Manticoran Marines than the standard battalion-sized units that could be found on ships-of-the-wall and battlecruisers.

They were often accompanied by Broadsword-class marine-support heavy cruisers as their screening element, while part of large planetary assault forces. (JIR1)

Along with the Guadalcanal class, this class was to be replaced with an unnamed class of attack transports, known only as LPX (Attack Transport, Experimental), which was still in the state of design study as of 1920 PD. (Companion)
