The Redoubtable class was a class of battlecruisers built and operated by the Royal Manticoran Navy.

Origins and design notes

In the aftermath of the Ranier War and Commodore Edward Saganami's anti-piracy campaign in the Silesian Confederacy, the Royal Manticoran Navy began to change from a defensive force to an offensive one. While capital ships were used to protect the Manticore System, the Redoubtable class battlecruisers were developed to cover the Star Kingdom's interests abroad. (JIR1)

History

The Redoubtables were the longest serving and most venerable battlecruiser class in the history of the RMN. Over two hundred of them were built, forming the backbone of the mobile force deployed beyond the borders of the Star Kingdom. Over time, they underwent four major service life extension refits. After over 125 T-years of service, they were succeeded by the Homer class in production and remained in service during the First Havenite-Manticoran War. (HH3)
