Philip "Phil" Clayton was a Grayson citzen and an officer of the Grayson Space Navy.
A native of Burdette Steading, he served as a Lieutenant aboard GNS Covington and fought in the First Battle of Yeltsin's Star and the Battle of Blackbird. Impressed by the Manticoran Captain Honor Harrington's willingness to risk herself and her command to protect his homeworld, Clayton later joined the Protector's Own.
He was married to fellow officer Angela Clayton, a native Manticoran.
After the Second Battle of Manticore, he was part of the team overseeing the salvage of the Solarian League Navy's wrecked ships near the Unicorn Belt. (HH14)
