PNS Achmed was a Sultan-class battlecruiser of the People's Navy.
History
In 1908 PD, Achmed was one of eight battlecruisers assigned to Admiral Javier Giscard's Task Force 29, which was deployed to the Silesian Confederacy to engage in commerce warfare against the Star Kingdom of Manticore. Her commanding officer at the time was Captain Stephen Holtz.
In 1910 PD, the ship served as Commodore Abraham Jurgens' divisional flagship during an attack on a Manticoran merchant convoy which resulted in what would become known as the Battle of the Selker Rift. After her sister ship, Kerebin, was destroyed by the Manticoran Q-ship HMAMC Wayfarer, Achmed was ordered by Commodore Jurgens to engage and destroy Wayfarer. Both ships met for a broadside duel at close range, inflicting massive damage and effectively crippling each other.
Achmed suffered both the greater damage and casualties, being little more than a drifting airless wreck when a pinnace detached from the Wayfarer evacuated her survivors. Of Achmed's crew of 1,200, only forty-six, including Captain Holtz, survived the final showdown with the Wayfarer. (HH6)
