Massimiliano 'Milino' Cognasso was a Manticoran citizen and a noncommissioned officer of the Royal Manticoran Marine Corps.
He was adopted by a treecat he named Alfredo. In 1922 PD, they were assigned to the Tenth Fleet in the Talbott Quadrant. When a messenger from the Mobius System arrived with stories of contact with a Manticoran agent who promised the Star Empire's help to a local resistance movement, Cognasso and Alfredo were summoned to find out if he was telling the truth.
