After the First Battle of Yeltsin's Star, she was captured by the Masadans along with Commander Jason Alvarez and fifty-one other crewmembers. She was placed in a cell with Alvarez and Mercedes Brigham. Ensign Jackson was constantly beaten and gang-raped by her captors until she was rescued by Captain Honor Harrington and a Marine strike force from HMS Fearless. When they found her, she was trying to protect the unconscious Brigham. She told her rescuers about the horrors of her captivity.
Surgeon Lieutenant Fritz Montoya later tended to her injuries aboard Fearless, and gave a report to Captain Harrington in the presence of Commander Thomas Theisman, who had handed the prisoners over to the Masadans in the first place. Jackson was placed on HMS Apollo so that she could be returned home to Manticore for better medical treatment. (HH2)
Mercedes Brigham often thought of her, and considered her inability to protect Jackson even worse than what happened to herself. (HH5)
