Lightning class

The Lightning class was a class of frigates used by the Royal Manticoran Navy.

A product of the same design study that led to the Falcon class destroyer and Apollo class light cruiser, the Lightning has the distinction of being the final class of frigates to be built by the Star Kingdom. Like the Falcons, the Lightnings were considered to fragile to survive an energy engagement and eventually had their roles transferred to the RMN's expanding number of light cruisers.

The last Lightning class frigate was decommissioned before the turn of the 20th Century PD. (Companion)
