LPX class

The LPX class was a concept class of Marine assault transports of the Royal Manticoran Navy in development in the 20th Century PD.

Origins and design notes

Designed to replace the Guadalcanal-class Heavy Assault Transports and Rorke's Drift-class Fast Assault Transports as the main means of transport for Royal Manticoran Marines, the LPX (Attack Transport, Experimental) was in the design study phase in 1920 PD.

The LPX would be built on a battlecruiser-size hull and meant to carry a full brigade of Marines with additional support personnel, the main purpose of which was to provide every fleet with a vessel that carried enough active and passive defense systems to hold her own as part of the fleet while giving the fleet a large contingent of Marines, whose numbers on modern-era warships was very small with the heavy use of automation.
