Kayla Barrett was a Mesan citizen and a non-commissioned officer of the Mesan Internal Security Directorate.
In 1922 PD, she held the rank of Section Sergeant and served in the 17th Regiment's 2nd Platoon under Lieutenant Connor Ferguson. In that capacity, she participated in the reprisals against Mesa's seccies following Operation Houdini, where she witnessed the massacre of a dozen unarmed prisoners and the murder of Ferguson by her platoon, and was subsequently captured by the seccy forces led by General Thandi Palane. In May 1923 PD, she was recruited by Saburo Lara into the newly created Mesan Unitary Magistral Police with the rank of Lieutenant to serve as his assistant on Palane's recommendation. (CS4)
