Jonas Sebastian Adcock was a Manticoran citizen and an officer of the Royal Manticoran Navy.

Biography[]

He was a native of Maslow until his family immigrated to Manticore, too late for him to benefit from the Prolong Treatment. After a two-year intensive personal study program, he was admitted to the Royal Manticoran Naval Academy on Saganami Island in 1819 PD, eventually graduating eighth in his class.

Holding the rank of Commander in 1850 PD, he was "banished" to a desk job in the Bureau of Weapons, heading the Concept Development Office. There he met Crown Prince Roger Winton, and introduced him to his younger sister Angelique. The two started dating, and eventually married, so Adcock became brother-in-law to his best friend and future king, and an uncle of Roger's and Angelique's daughter, the future Queen Elizabeth III. (Companion)

Much later in 1911 PD, at the age of 114, he was too old for a space-going command but too valuable to be allowed to retire. His mind was still considered "first-class", and he often asked line officers for opinions on proposed weapons systems. For a very long time he was an active duty Vice Admiral of the Green, and the head of the Weapons Development Board and also the Fourth Space Lord. (HH7, HH9)

He sold Admiral Danvers on the idea of building HMS Minotaur at full scale to test the LAC carrier concept during the last stages of the First Havenite-Manticoran War. (HH8)

Adcock died while still on active duty in 1913 PD, shortly before the Battle of Barnett, where the techologies he championed led to an overwhelming Manticoran victory over the People's Republic of Haven. (Companion)
