HMS Covington
Class Austin Grayson
Type Light cruiser
Affiliation Protectorate of Grayson
In Service 19th and 20th Century PD

GNS Covington was an Austin Grayson-class light cruiser of the Grayson Space Navy.

History Edit

In 1903 PD, the Covington was part of the Grayson-Manticoran Combined Fleet under the command of Commodore Wesley Matthews. The ship was damaged in the opening shots of the First Battle of Yeltsin's Star. In the second salvo, the Covington was further damaged.

After both High Admiral Bernard Yanakov and Admiral Raoul Courvosier were killed, Commodore Matthews became the commander of the GMCF. Commander Jason Alvarez relayed information about the Navy of Masada Fleet to Covington and led HMS Madrigal to face the rest of the Masadan Fleet so that Covington and the destroyer Saul could escape.

Battle of Blackbird Edit

Commanded by Commodore Wesley Matthews, Covington went into the Battle of Blackbird with five missile tubes short, but the energy weapons and the sidewall generator had been repaired. During the beginning of the battle, the ship flew in a wedge formation with Saul and Glory occupying the edges, while the Royal Manticoran Navy vessels formed the center of the formation. After witnessing the efficiency of the RMN units, Covington's crew cheered. A pair of Masadan LACs went after the ship, but Covington destroyed them easily.

When Covington reported ready status, the assault on Blackbird Base began. Covington and Glory were sent to protect Grayson when MNS Thunder of God entered the Yeltsin's Star System. (HH2)

One of the crewmembers killed during the Battle of Blackbird was Jamie Candless' father. (HH4)

The Covington was decommissioned when the alliance with Manticore gave the Protectorate access to more modern ship designs. It became a museum ship in orbit over Grayson. (Companion)
