The Reliant class was the Royal Manticoran Navy's most modern class of battlecruisers during the early stages of the First Havenite-Manticoran War.

Origins and design notes[]

Built at the turn of the 20th Century PD, the Reliant-class battlecruisers were regarded as among the most advanced and powerful vessels in their classification, even surpassing the contemporary Sultan-class ships of the People's Republic of Haven, and still maintained superiority over the later Warlord-class developed by Haven. (HH3, HH7)

Ships in the later batches of the class incorporated faster-than-light communication systems during their construction, instead of being refitted with them after the fact. The class was equipped with the newest generation of GSN-designed inertial compensator.

The Reliant-class incorporated a private gym for use by a flag officer and their staff, which included a swimming pool that formed part of the consumable water supply.(HH3)

By 1920 PD, and despite the relative youth of the Reliants, they were regarded as obsolete and unsuitable in the modern, missile pod-heavy naval battlefield and some were actually decommissioned, but the resumption of hostilities with the Republic of Haven forced the Navy to retain them and recommission those that had been retired. (HH10, HH11)

The Grayson Space Navy named them the Hill class. (Companion)
