The Courageous class was a class of Royal Manticoran Navy light cruisers that were commissioned in the early 1800s PD.
History[]
About as big as early 1900s PD destroyers, the class was light on point defense but had higher weight of fire compared to more modern cruisers. However, like with most light combatants, there was insufficient magazine capacity for a prolonged missile engagement. Being around eighty years old, it was one of the most numerous classes in the RMN as of 1900 PD, but quickly became obsolete. (HH1)
During the time period of 1905 to 1907, the remaining Courageous-class vessels were refitted after a bottleneck occurred in the construction of Valiant-class units. (JIR1)
During the First Havenite-Manticoran War, Courageous-class ships generally fought in a role equivalent to destroyers. The last ships were decommissioned in 1909 PD, with many being immediately replaced by a Valiant-class vessel of the same name. The Grayson Space Navy named them the Matthias-class. (Companion)
