The Calvin System, originally designated KCR-126-04, was a star system with a G4 primary and multiple planets.
It was located just over 201 light years from the Sol System and around 150ly from Beowulf.
Angelique Calvin picked Calvin III as the original destination for the colonial expedition aboard the sub-light generation ship Calvin's Hope. However, several years before the ship arrived, two asteroids struck Calvin III in quick succession, destroying much of its biosphere and forcing the expedition to be redirected to the Refuge System.
In 1306 PD, a hyper-capable survey ship was sent to look for the Calvin's Hope, but found no trace of it, leaving the rest of humanity to believe that the expedition was lost forever.
Centuries later, the People's Republic of Haven discovered a wormhole connecting the uninhabited J-156-18(L) system to Calvin, leading to the re-discovery of Calvin's Hope and the descendants of her colonists, who were now living on the planet Sanctuary. (DF)
