Course of Battle[]

Sixth Fleet translated into the Samson System in a crash translation out of the Delta bands of hyperspace and onto a course directly for the primary star[4], but twelve light-seconds further out from its intended locus than planned[5], shedding ninety-nine percent of its base velocity and retaining a velocity of 1,324 KPS. Despite its unintended locus, Sixth Fleet began to accelerate toward Samson-4 and the Havenite fleet base, its wall of battle accelerating at 245 gravities[6]. Meanwhile, Heavy Cruiser Squadron 33, unhindered by towed pods, accelerated ahead of the wall of battle. (EH1)

Aftermath[]

References[]

  1. Seven units, possibly Gardienne class
  2. Four DuQuesne class units
  3. Six Tonnerre class battlecruisers, possibly a Conquérante class light cruiser, and a mix of Bastogne and Desforge class destroyers.
  4. A maneuver that used two T-months of the overhaul cycle of the Fleet's hyper generators in 15 minutes.
  5. Sixth Fleet's intended locus had been thirteen light-minutes from Samson's 21.12 hyper limit and about thirty light-seconds from the Havenite fleet base in orbit of Samson IV. But an astrogation error dropped the Fleet into normal space forty-two light-seconds from the base or an extra three million kilometers distant instead of the intended nine million four hundred sixty-four thousand kilometers. Additionally Sixth Fleet would need an extra 18.7 minutes of flight time to reach the Havenite base, extra time that Sixth Fleet didn't necessarily have in its attempt to catch any Havenite mobile units before they could bring up their hyper generators and escape into hyperspace.
  6. Sixth Fleet's wall of battle was slowed by towed pods.
